Conversation with Karey and Cherry Mae

Ok, so I was completing one of my online parenting classes and I received an IM from Karey Manley, Peace Corp volunteer in PG, Belize. She and Cherry-mae have been fabulous in making sure the ball continues to roll on this whole adoption process. So, here is the latest. I just copied and pasted the dialog. Remember, it's not final until everyone has signed on the dotted line, but this is another step in the right direction! Please continue to pray for a swift and seamless process. she did have a few ear infections in early may/june
lactose intolerent

Karey: any background info on Ms. Em

Heather: sorry i forgot that
suspected lactose intolerent
she had it since a baby

Karey: Cherry says she drinks powdered milk?? otay

Heather: gets diarrhea and belly ache when she has regular milk
ok
also soy is ok

Karey: Ms. Flores is checking Em's file as we speak - we are on hold

Heather: can u ask ms flores if parents cleared, so em is legally free for adoption
ms flores has her birth cert
a copy of it
does she have damien's letter
i am doing a dance right now

Karey: she doesn't have the letter yet...sorry - but haven't had a chance to get a copy

Heather: ms flores is actually looking at the case!

Karey: Ms. Flores says the parents aren't cleared yet - she is sending people from village to village

Heather: the mother is in san antonio

Karey: Cherry is telling her that a Sophia from Hillside knows Em's mom and she thinks she lives in San Antonio

Heather: yes. that is correct
sophia is our translator

Karey: WE may need a copy of the original birth cert - hold on

Heather: once sophia put two and two together, she told me she knows the mom
ok, flores can get that
is that so she can get a social security card

Karey: they are deciding on what would be quicker for you to send the original or for cherry to apply for one
yes we need the cert for a SS#

Heather: apply for one

they are meeting the 14th

Heather: how long does it take to get a ss card

Karey: ???

Heather: social security card

Karey: now the 16th at 3:00pm - they are talking about going to SA together to contact Delphina

Heather: what is the agenda for the 14ths meeting

Karey: not sure hang on

Heather: ok, that sounds good
have CM bring sophia along

Karey: one minute

Heather: ok, now I am singing a song of praise girl!

Karey: Ms. Flores is going to try and get to SA before their now scheduled meeting on the 16th

Heather: ok. tell her to try real hard
she can go to hillside and talk to sophia. she can tell her exactly where delfina lives

Karey: Ms. Flores is scheduled to go to SA early next week that is why they are not meeting til the 16th
Ms Flores will take the mom to the SS office to get her card which will be better for the whole process

Heather: ok
how so?

Karey: Em should be cleared for adoption by then and then Cherry will be listed as legal guardian and the process can continue

Heather: hallelujiah!

Karey: do you know Em's religion??

Heather: cleared by the 16th or when she gets the card?

Karey: do you know what # child is in birth mothers family

Heather: no, but she will be raised in a christian family
she was somewhat practicing bahi with damian
ok, per sophia, emelda has an older sister
will flores be able to provide me with background info on Emelda? Why her mom left her? how many siblings?

Karey: the last step after visiting and questioning the mother will be to get the SS card

Heather: ok

Karey: I guess we will have to wait on all that info

Heather: will the mother use the $ excuse not to got to the ss office?

Karey: I think Ms. Flores will be taking her??

Heather: if so, could you ask flores if i could help with that or would that be considering paying to get emelda
ok. if flores can do it, that is great

if Flores keeps her schedule we should be able to sort out by next week

Heather: yes. maybe cm can call next week for follow up
